| David published his first children's novel, Fire Bringer, in 1999 and since then it has been read and loved around the world. He doesn't believe in a profound distinction between children's and adult literature, just in great storytelling, and so his books - complex, dramatic and poetic - address complex themes that confront us all, young or old; life and death, love and meaning, faith and purpose, fantasy and truth. |
|
His new UK novel, The Alchemists of Barbal, is really about the battle between the scientific and artistic visions of life, although first and foremost it is an adventure. His latest book, The Telling Pool, is an Arthurian fantasy that takes us back to the Crusades and was published in the UK in 2006 . The paper back will be available in mid 2007. The kind of stories that inspired David range from Tolkien to Jack London, CS Lewis to Oscar Wilde, but nature is at the heart of his adventures.
Right now he's making a collection of all-time favourite scenes from children's books and wants to know what you think. Click on the link above called 'Your Favourites'. You can win a signed copy of one of his novels! |
